"As the water gets improved, the fish yield increases and meat quality is better accordingly," said Liang Yiwen, head of Daoxiangwei aquaculture pond in Longping Community, Zhongshan's West District on October 26.

The Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment and Zhongshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs are making joint efforts to promote the construction of collective aquaculture parks that combine ecological and healthy aquaculture and treated water management. As the first of this kind in Zhongshan, Daoxiangwei has become a pilot project of green and circular development of the fishery industry.

Daoxiangwei has an aquiculture area of 2,000 mu mainly for the breeding of crisped grass carp, crispy tilapia and shrimp. Its first treated water management project covers 684 mu of ponds.

"After renovation, the ponds' effective depth has been deepened to more than 2.5 meters, and the output per mu has increased from about 2,000 kg to about 3,500 kg", said Liang Yiwen.
