On July 24, in a workshop in Minzhong District of Mindong Organic Waste Disposal Co, an exclusively-invested enterprise of Zhongshan Investment Holdings, a plate-and-frame machine was working on sludge dewatering.
"These machines are part of the 'source reduction & centralized drying and incineration of sludge' project funded, constructed and operated by our company," said Wei Chao, deputy general manager of Mindong, adding that the six plate-and-frame dewatering machines can run 24 hours a day.
With a total investment of 115 million yuan, "source reduction & centralized drying and incineration of sludge" has been launched in 18 sewage plants across Zhongshan. Upon completion, Zhongshan's total daily treatment volume of sludge will increase from 600 tons to 900 tons, and the treated sludge with a moisture content of 40% will be incinerated together with domestic garbage. The project helps meet Zhongshan's demand for treating produced sludge on a daily basis, greatly save state-owned land resources, reduce sludge treatment costs, and realize the reduction and harmless and resourceful treatment of sludge.
