Progress has been made in the protection of intangible cultural heritage in Zhongshan.

I Zhongshan Xianshui Songs (a kind of folk song sung in Cantonese by fishermen) and Xiaolan Chrysanthemum Show were included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2006.
II Changzhou Drunken Dragen Dance and the Yakou Folk Art were included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008.
III Baikoulian Folk Songs, Huangpu Folk Art, Huangpu Unicorn Dance and Shaxi Crane Dance were included in the List of Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2007.
Xiaolan, Shaxi and Dachong have been named the Hometown of National Folk Art by the Ministry of Culture.
