March 12 this year marked the 100th anniversary of Dr Sun Yat-sen's passing. On that day, relatives of Yeung Sik-chung (Yang Xizong), a fellow townsman of Sun Yat-sen and a renowned modern architect, donated 114 pieces (sets) of cultural relics to the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen. These items have great significance and value for the study of Yeung Sik-chung's life and the development history of modern Lingnan architecture and urban construction.

Yeung Sik-chung was born in Hong Kong in 1889, with ancestral roots in Cuiheng Village in Xiangshan County (now Zhongshan). He went to Cornell University in the US for Western architectural education in the early 20th century, and after graduation, he returned to China, where he led the design of such architectural projects as the cemetery of the 72 martyrs in Huanghuagang and the Shipai campus of Sun Yat-sen University (now the South China University of Technology). He also participated in design competitions for the Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou.
