Documentary “Six Decades of Love for Submarine Insects” about China's famous marine biologist, Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Zheng Shouyi was premiered in Foraminifera Museum in Xiaolanghuan Park of Sanxiang Town. Zheng Shouyi told at the ceremony she would work to apply more scientific research fruits in the hometown and help more people know about “little giants in the sea”.
“Six Decades of Love for Submarine Insects” was planned and produced by Sanxiang Town Government to salute the 60th anniversary of Zheng Shouyi’s returning to the Motherland. It is about 38 minutes long, divided into three sections: young patriotism, research fruits brought back and lifelong love for oceans. Based on large quantities of documents, through the narration of the protagonist and other informed resources, the documentary tells the sixty years of scientific exploration of Zheng Shouyi since she came back to the motherland, revealing the noble image of overseas Chinese with Zheng as a representative who also put motherland’s interest in the first place, worked hard and never give up. It vividly interprets Sun Yat-sen’s “taking the lead” and sense of universal love as well as the core value of socialism. It has the distinguished features of the times and shows well the overseas Chinese culture of Zhongshan. It received aids from Institute of Oceanology during the shooting.
