Zhongshan Daily News. Yesterday was the 142nd Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of Chinese revolution. 2008 Memorial Week of Dr. Sun Yet-sen was launched solemnly yesterday morning at his former residence in order to remember Dr. Sun Yet-sen's achievements, further enhance the research and cultural resource utilization about him, promote Dr. Sun Yet-sen's spirit and build a harmonious Zhongshan.

Over 400 people participated in the activities including leaders of Zhongshan City, such as Peng Jianwen, Qiu Shuhong, Liang Rongsen, Hao Yifeng and Su Weiqiang as well as principals of all democratic parties, representatives of Dr. Sun Yet-sen's descendents, patriotic personages home and abroad, reporters, representatives from all walks of life and students. 

As informed, the theme of this memorial week is to promote Dr. Sun Yet-sen's spirit and build a harmonious Zhongshan in order to carry forward Dr. Sun Yet-sen's great spirit and personality and further enhance the research and cultural resource utilization on him.

About 300 18-year-old students swore a solemn oath under the five-star red flag at the square of Sun Yet-sen's former residence.
