As one of the few female Suzhou embroiders in Zhongshan, Zhou Xueqing, a Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party member, started her embroidery practice as young as 5 years old. Her mother, a senior craftsman at Suzhou Embroidery Institute, played an important role in her perfect inheritance of Suzhou embroidery skills. Zhou Xueqing captured almost all kinds of top domestic prizes with her exquisite craft works in the arts and crafts circle from 2007 to 2016.
She established in the Eastern District Zhou Xueqing Embroidery Arts Studio in 2008, aiming at inheriting and spreading embroidery skills so as to promote embroidery culture. Zhou spent half a year on the Embroidered Portrait of Sun Yat-sen to commemorate the 150th birthday of the great man. The embroidered portrait has been presented to Sun Yat-sen's Former Residence.
