The year 2024 marks the 158th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth. From July 20 to 26, the Zhongshan Overseas Friendship Association invited nearly 100 descendants of Sun Yat-sen's family that are scattered in the US, the UK, France, Thailand and Belgium, as well as in China's Hong Kong and Macao regions to Zhongshan to take part in friendship and cultural root-seeking activities.
On the morning of July 21, the guests and youth representatives from Zhongshan visited Guinan Village in Wuguishan Sub-district, one of the most beautiful villages in Guangdong Province, where they had an immersive experience of agarwood and wormwood. In the afternoon, they attended a special symposium.
In the evening, the Zhongshan Overseas Friendship Association hosted a welcome dinner for the guests.
At the welcome dinner, Victor Sun, great grandnephew of Sun Yat-sen, donated 270 pieces (sets) of historical relics of the Sun family to the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen, hoping to enrich the Sun Yat-sen Culture resources and contribute to the study of the history of revolution and the Sun family.
During the cultural root-seeking activity, the guests will also visit Guangzhou and Shenzhen to get updated on the economic, social and cultural development of Greater Bay Area cities and to experience the achievements of Chinese modernization.
