At the coming “Guangdong Week” in Shanghai Expo, Juxiangyuan traditional handicrafts is chosen as one of the demonstrative items. It is another intangible heritage of Zhongshan that has been chosen to display in the Expo, and the other three are Changzhou Drunk Lion Dance, Shaxi Crane Dance and High Pile Lion Dance.
The craftsmen of Juxiangyuan will show the traditional handicrafts at scene and invite visitors to take part in, and guests will taste almond cake for free. Juxiangyuan has been chosen for the perseverance of the most valuable part of the traditional production – making cakes by hand. Its unique flavor and tenderness in mouth win its name in and around the country, especially in Hong Kong and Macau.
Before being chosen to Shanghai Expo, the traditional Juxiangyuan handicrafts had enjoyed great popularity at Shenzhen Culture Expo, along with Shaxi herb tea and Huangpu cured meat.
