According to the assessment experts of National Historical and Cultural City, Zhongshan is able to meet the criteria of applying for the National Historical and Cultural City with its rich historical and cultural heritages and vast and intensive stretches of historical buildings. These strong historical and cultural features can best embody the unique combination of eastern and western cultures in Zhongshan and the course of modern history of China which plays an important role in forming enlightenment thought in that period. After the primary assessment, the final statement will be submitted to the State Council for approval.
