The commemorative ceremony of 144th Birthday Anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen was held in the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen on Nov. 12th, marking the starting of Sun Yat-sen Cultural Week this year. Representatives from Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC, CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, Municipal Government, relatives of Sun Yat-sen and all walks of life took part in the activity.

With the theme of “Promoting Sun Yat-sen’s spirit and building cultural brand”, the cultural week organizes about 80 activities in order to attract more tourists by integrating resources in Xiangtan, Hunan and Guangan, Sichuan, greatly promoting red culture tourism to form positive industrial effects.

Since 2007, the cultural week has been held every year on the birthday of Sun Yat-sen and great achievements have been made in continuous study and publicity of Sun Yat-sen culture. On the commemorative ceremony, descendants of Li Xian’gen and Yao Guanshun, two followers of Sun Yat-sen, donated 16 and 460 literature, cultural relics and historical photos to the Museum of Sun Yat-sen respectively. In addition, activities of unveiling ceremony of Guangdong Red Tourism Demonstration Base and Guangdong Cultural Tourism Demonstration Bases were also held.
