Back to the East is the first reportage about the 100-year history of overseas Chinese. With the help of Zhongshan Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, Zhongshan Daily Group sent 4 groups of reporters to 20 cities in Asia, Europe, and America. The reporters travelled more than 100,000 kilometers and interviewed more than 200 scholars, descendents of the 1911 Revolution pioneers, and businessman living abroad. As a result of three months’ collective effotrs, the reportage got accomplished.

After the book was published, the book held its launching ceremonies in more than 10 symbolic cities such as Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, San Francisco, Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago, Paris, London, and Vancouver. The book evoked strong repercussions from Chinese both at home and abroad.
