Caizha, or Festoon Figurine (Zhongshan Qiwan Golden Dragon), was included in the list of Guangdong's provincial intangible cultural heritage items last year, adding splendor to this year's Qiwan Golden Dragon Parade on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month that coincided with Friday. The Qiwan Golden Dragon "danced" from Friday night through Saturday to celebrate the successful application for intangible cultural heritage and to pray for peace and prosperity.
The dragon banquet, an important part of the Qiwan Golden Dragon Parade event, symbolizes ample food and clothing, happiness and good fortune. As the 4th Zhongshan East District Golden Dragon Culture Gala opened, two restaurants in East District were designated to serve dragon banquets. One is Guiyuan Farm in Qiwan Community, and the other is Dadongyu Hotel.
The annual dragon banquet is about fortune and feeling in the eyes of Qiwan people, and everyone cherishes it despite its common ingredients, said Yang Zixing from Qiwan. Qiwan people considered the dragon banquet to be good, said Yang Guojian, Party chief of the Qiwan Association of Agricultural Economic Cooperatives, hoping the banquet will bring good fortune to more people and promote the Qiwan Golden Dragon culture.
Guiyuan Farm's Golden Dragon Banquet is an original replica of Qiwan's traditional dragon banquet with local ingredients, including simple and classic dishes like braised meat, boiled sliced chicken, fish balls, diced pork with beans, braised duck with pig skin gelatin, Chinese vermicelli with dried, shelled shrimps and leek, vegetarian food and stir-fried vegetables.
Dadongyu Hotel designed an creative set meal, which contains fish paste soup, boiled sliced chicken, baked prawns with butter, pine nut fish, noodle with lotus seeds, and featured fried rice.
