With the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage · Canton Charm", the 2023 Sanxiang Cantonese Opera Culture & Art Week and Cantonese Opera Cultural Exhibition opened at the Sanxiang Cultural Center on July 19. From July 19 to 24, Sanxiang will host a number of Cantonese Opera cultural activities.
During the cultural week, the costume, headdresses and other stage items of various Cantonese Opera genre founders, such as Luo Jiabao and Chen Xiaofeng, will debut as exhibits. Special Cantonese opera shows will be staged: Fidelity to Loveand Last Ruler of the Southern Tang State will be presented on July 21 and 22 respectively, and The Butterfly Loversand the "Red Bean in Southern China · Splendor of Cantonese Opera" by Sanxiang Quyi (Folk Art) Club will be staged on July 23 and 24 respectively.
At the launch ceremony, portraits, costume, headdresses, painted fans, hand warmers and other exhibits of Cantonese Opera masters were displayed, attracting flocks of visitors.
In 1849, Wushi Village in Sanxiang saw the emergence of the Xiaoya Shanfang Music Club. Organized by local farmers fond of Cantonese music and opera, it was the earliest Cantonese operaclub in Zhongshan.
