Walking into the KFC restaurant on Dongyu Road in East District, many people were attracted by a golden dragon "winding" on a glass wall.
This KFC × Caizha (Zhongshan Qiwan Golden Dragon) Intangible Cultural Heritage-themed restaurant is dominated by natural colors and matched with the traditional five-element tone of "gold, wood, water, fire and earth," which has strong Lingnan cultural and artistic characteristics.
Caizha (Zhongshan Qiwan Golden Dragon), or Festoon Figurine, originated in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, more than 300 years from now. At that time, Qiwan villagers made and used paper dragons to pray for blessings during the parade on the 8th day of the fourth lunar month.
Now in this KFC restaurant, residents can experience the charm of Caizha up close. "The kids love this place so much. It is meaningful for them to get better understanding of characteristic culture of the place where they grow up through DIY and painting activities," says Shen, who brings her children to participate in a Caizha experience class in the restaurant.
Intangible cultural heritage elements can also be seen at the KFC restaurant in the Mixc shopping mall in Shiqi District.
As a national historical and cultural city, Zhongshan boasts profound cultural deposits. The crossover cooperation with the famous fast food brand allows more exposure of intangible cultural heritage culture to the public in fashionable business circles, interesting and special presentation of local culture and history, the collision and fusion between traditional elements and the "hustle and bustle", as well as new experience of food consumption for consumers.
