According to Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, in April 2022, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) grew by 1.9% year-on-year, and 0.2% month-on-month. From January to April, Zhongshan's CPI increased by 1.5% from the same period of last year.
In April, food prices dropped by 0.6% while non-food prices rose by 2.5%. The price of consumer goods went up by 2.3% and service prices went up by 1.1%.
The prices of food, tobacco and alcohol rose by 0.1%, of which the prices of fresh vegetables rose by 13.9%, resulting in a 0.26 percentage point increase in CPI; and egg prices rose by 10.1%.
The prices of seven other major categories all rose year on year. Among them, the prices of transportation and communication increased by 6.6%, and the prices of daily necessities and services increased by 3.2%.
