According to Zhongshan Customs, from January to May 2022, Zhongshan's total import and export value was 123.42 billion yuan, an increase of 23.1% over the same period of last year. The export value was 103.19 billion yuan, up 26.1%, while the import value was 20.23 billion yuan, up 9.8%.

Zhongshan exported 76.54 billion yuan worth mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 20.6%, accounting for 74.2% of its gross export value. The export value of automatic data processing equipment and accessories, as well as lamps, lighting devices and parts increased by 46.8% and 62.4% respectively.

Zhongshan's import and export values with the US, EU and ASEAN totaled 25.87 billion yuan, 18.97 billion yuan and 15.58 billion yuan, up 34.5%, 13.4% and 32.3% respectively. Trade value with Hong Kong stood at 77.8 billion yuan, down 4.6%; and with Japan 68.2 billion yuan, up 14.9%.

Zhongshan's import and export values with countries along the Belt and Road and other RCEP members totaled 32.84 and 29.85 billion yuan, up 34.7% and 25.3% respectively.
