The unveiling ceremony of the Zhongshan Cultural Heritage Bureau was held at the Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau on July 24.

Zhongshan is a National Historical and Cultural City. In recent years, it has been strengthening the protection, activation and utilization of cultural relics by carrying out conservation and renovation programs for a number of culture relic protection sites and building a number of activation and utilization projects. The Zhongshan Cultural Heritage Bureau is established to sort out the the management mechanism of cultural relics and enhance the building of protection teams, so as to better fulfill people's spiritual and cultural needs.

At present, there are 3 national, 23 provincial and 66 municipal key cultural relic protection units in Zhongshan, in addition to 466 unofficial immovable cultural relics. Meanwhile, Zhongshan possesses 5 museums and memorial halls, with more than 14,500 pieces/sets of cultural relics.
