Zhongshan Modern Agricultural Technology Promotion Demonstration Base recently saw a bumper harvest of giant rice, which was introduced into Zhongshan for trial planting this year. The dry grain yield was estimated at about 700 kilograms per mu.

Giant rice, a new "star in the field", is well received by agricultural scientists and farmers in recent years. This year, after studies on water and soil, climate, market and other factors, giant rice has been introduced to Zhongshan for the first time.

On March 25, farmers were planting giant rice seedlings.

On May 11, Huang Shun, a base manager, compared giant rice (left) with ordinary one.

On June 19, a farmer was conducting field management of earring giant rice.

On June 26, giant rice attracted a flock of growers in Zhongshan.

On July 15, farmers were reaping giant rice.

On July 15, the ears of reaped rice were measured at around 50 cm in length.

On July 15, a harvester was working in a 4-mu giant rice field.
