According to the 2023 Zhongshan Charity Development Report recently released, Zhongshan's total income from charity donations last year amounted to about 434 million yuan, basically the same as a year earlier.

According to the report, in 2023, the donation income was mainly from enterprises (organizations), with a total amount of 417 million yuan. Sixty enterprises (organizations) made donations of over 1 million yuan each, and 379 enterprises (organizations) made donations of over 100,000 yuan each. Personal donations totaled about 17 million yuan.

In terms of donation expenditure, Zhongshan's charity donations were widely used in a variety of fields, including poverty alleviation, education and medical aid, disaster relief, scientific and cultural development, and etc. Expenses on social security totaled 111 million yuan, accounting for 53% of the total, primarily used for poverty alleviation, education and medical aid, assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities, and preferential treatment.
