Zhongshan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in May decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period last year.
Food prices fell by 2.2%, and non-food prices rose by 0.1%. Consumer goods prices dropped by 0.5%, and service prices dropped by 0.2%.
Prices of food, tobacco and alcohol decreased by 1.1% from a year earlier. Specifically, prices of fresh vegetable, freshwater fish, milk powders and beef rose by 6.4%, 5.4%, 4.6% and 3.4% respectively, and those of shrimp and crab, pork and fresh fruit declined by 12.4%, 8.1% and 7.9% respectively.
Prices of other goods (services), daily necessities (services), education, culture and entertainment and medical care increased by 2.0%, 1.6%, 1.3% and 0.1% respectively, and those of transportation and communication, clothing and housing decreased by 1.7%, 0.5% and 0.2% respectively.
Prices of industrial products dropped by 0.2%. Mainly influenced by the fluctuating prices of refined oil products, prices of transportation fuels decreased, with gasoline and diesel prices down by 0.7% and 0.8% respectively.
