The third session of the 12th Zhongshan Municipal Committee of
the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) designated the
"Suggestions on Vigorously Developing Public Kindergartens and Improving the
Quality of Pre-school Education" put forward by the Zhongshan Committee of the
China Democratic League and the "Suggestions on Building High-level
Comprehensive Universities in Zhongshan" put forward by the Zhongshan Committee
of the China Zhigong Party as key proposals of the city. The Zhongshan Education
and Sports Bureau organized a research forum on November 25
morning.
For a beginning, research activities were organized in
Henglan Town to collect information on the development of pre-school education
in the town in recent years. As of now, there are 20 kindergartens in the town,
including 7 public kindergartens and 9 inclusive private kindergartens. Henglan
Town will in the future continue to increase capital investment in public
kindergartens and reclaim government-owned kindergartens whose leases have
expired.
It is said that since 2018, eight new public
kindergartens have been built in the city. It plans to build 20 more in two
years.
In addition, the preparation work for Zhongshan University
of Science and Technology is in progress. It strives to make it a public
university jointly built by the province and city.
It is reported
that, the Zhongshan University of Science and Technology will enroll some 10,000
students, with a graduate-to-undergraduate ratio of six to four. Its main campus is
located at Tsuihang New District, covering an area of about 3000 mu (200
hectares).
