The new "Urban Design of Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City" was recently announced.
As per the new design plan, Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City will be located in the southern starting area of the Tsuihang New District (Ma'an Island). It will encompass a total area of 18.27 square kilometers, including a land area of approximately 13 square kilometers.
Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City, poised to be Zhongshan's new contemporary, international, innovative urban center within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has been designed to be an open communication portal connecting Zhongshan with the world while further integrating Zhongshan into the Greater Bay Area. The Science City will become a modern and high-quality addition to this coastal urban area, and it will become a leader in Zhongshan's innovative development while at the same time highlighting the city's unique characteristics.
The urban design has allocated a construction area of nearly 10 square kilometers with a planned population of 150,000 to 180,000. It will feature scientific research innovation, high-end production services, and urban public services as its core functions.
The Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City design plan calls for a total land area of 130 hectares for public management and public service facilities. Respective of the general layout of the urban design, one can see the distribution of specific urban buildings and public services. These exceptional elements include the Future Gate, a landmark in the coastal region, the Greater Bay Area Joint Innovation Center, Tsuihang Key Middle School, the Science and Technology Launch Center, the Greater Bay Area Joint Laboratory, the Greater Bay Area Medical City, the Biomedical Headquarters Base, the International Biomedical Innovation Park, the Greater Bay Area Scientific Research Institute, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Education Cooperation Park, Scientist Community, Design Valley, the Tsuihang Concert Hall, and many others.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel and the new Zhongshan Passenger Port, which are now under construction, as well as the planned Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Shenzhen-Maoming Railway will provide even greater access for Tsuihang New District's rapid integration into the intercity network of the Greater Bay Area. Travelers going to and from Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City can easily reach Qianhai in Shenzhen, Nansha in Guangzhou, Hong Kong Airport, Macao, Zhuhai, and many other places within one hour utilizing a variety of transportation modes.
According to the plan, one highway, two expressways, one arterial road and two metro lines will be constructed in the future to provide traffic relief and accessibility to the whole of Ma'an Island. Metro Line 2 and 4 have been planned, and an additional metro line has been reserved to connect the central area of Tsuihang New District with Zhongshan Tsuihang Science City.
