The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently released the list of China's most beautiful leisure villages for 2023, with 10 villages in Guangdong Province selected. Shenxi Village was the only one in Zhongshan to make the list this year.
Shenxi Village is situated south of the Tropic of Cancer and on the northern edge of the tropics. It experiences a southern subtropical monsoon climate, with abundant sunshine and rainfall throughout the year. The region features strong heat and a large degree of solar radiation, making it suitable for the cultivation of Shenwan Pineapples.
Approach from the Gushen Highway in Shenwan Town, enter through the south entrance of the Yaji Mountain Forest Park, pass through the charming "Pineapple Tunnel" adorned with cute pineapple graffiti, and arrive at the Shenwan Pineapple Industrial Park.
Located in Shenxi Village, the park features a modern container-style exhibition hall with pineapple elements. Wide and colorful roads lead the tourists to pineapple fields for fruit-picking activities. Not far away, Yaji Mountain that offers breathtaking views at sunrise or sunset has become an ideal destination for tourists to take stunning photographs and partake in experience activities during weekends and holidays.
In recent years, Shenxi Village has constantly extended the industrial chain and developed its pineapple industry through standardized planting and brand building.
In 2022, there were 231 pineapple growers in the village, with a pineapple yield of 1,250 kg per mu and a total annual output of 2,250 tons. The combined output value was approximately 54 million yuan, and the village's collective income was 2.95 million yuan. The average annual income of pineapple growers exceeded 100,000 yuan, and pineapple planting has become an important source of income for farmers there.
"With the completion of such facilities as the Shenwan Pineapple Industrial Park and the Yaji Mountain Forest Park, Shenxi Village sees a significant increase in tourist amount, with nearly 300,000 visitors coming each year," said Li Hairong, Party chief of the village.
