The Zhongshan Chengbei (中山城北) toll station (formerly known as Gangkou station) on the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway reopened to traffic on the afternoon of December 3.
Due to the reconstruction of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway, the original Gangkou station (along with interchange ramps) had been closed for construction since July 24 this year. The reconstructed toll station is renamed Zhongshan Chengbei with the approval of the provincial department of transportation, and it now has 14 lanes, including 6 for entry and 8 for exit.
Currently, westbound lanes are open to traffic, allowing vehicles heading for Jiangmen to enter the expressway and those heading for Gangkou to exit the expressway. Eastbound lanes are not yet open.
Located in Gangkou Town, the Zhongshan Chengbei toll station is a main traffic hub connecting Zhongshan with Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Zhuhai and other places. It is known as the "North Gate" of Zhongshan.
