The continuation of Longxing North Road in Shaxi Town began trial operation on December 7, currently allowing only passenger vehicles to travel on its main line. The official opening time is subject to announcement from the town government.
The new continuation has three lanes on both directions. Roadside greenbelts and pedestrian walkways have been completed. Driving on the asphalt road, one can enjoy a farmland and fish pond view on one side and an urban view of buildings on the other.
The 2.84-km continuation starts from the approaches with the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway and ends at Qijiang Highway. The main line is constructed according to the standards of first-class highway with urban road functions, with a designed speed of 60 km/h and a total investment of 319 million yuan. After its official opening, the driving time from central Shaxi to the Zhongshan West toll station of Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway will be cut to 5 minutes.
