Zhongshan Open University has relocated to its new campus at No.50, Xinggang Avenue in Gangkou Town starting on December 18. According to an announcement released by the Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau, the original site (No.134 Sunwen Middle Road, Shiqi District) will be used for the construction of No.1 Middle School of Zhongshan's Yueshan school area.
According to the announcement, the new project covers a land area of 38.99 mu, with a total building area of 41,556.9 square meters.
Six new buildings with a total construction area of 18,662.11 square meters, including two teaching buildings, one multifunctional building, one dining hall, and two dormitories, will be constructed in addition to new corridors (1,033.48 square meters) new bleachers (389 square meters). A complex building (1,025 square meters) will be renovated, and three other complex buildings, the bell tower, the school gate building and the art administration building (3,552.37 square meters in total) will be reinforced.
In addition, a new underground gymnasium (5,605.34 square meters), an underground teaching space (850.26 square meters) and a two-story basement (5,219.67 square meters) with 200 parking spots will be constructed.
The new school area will be finished in August 2025 and put into use in September 2025.
