Yang Hongyan from Beijing became the 2,000,000th visitor to the new Zhongshan Museum since its opening on February 3.
Surrounded by the museum staff, she received a commemorative gift bag. "I am so surprised and honored to receive the good fortune on my first visit to Zhongshan!" Yang smiled and said.
Yang and her family came to Zhongshan on the fourth day of the Chinese New Year for tourism via the ShenZhong Link. "Museums in every city are windows to understand local culture. I never expected such a wonderful surprise waiting for us."
The gifts included a scroll, a custom doll of the Year of the Snake, a collection album of the museum, and guide service. Yang and her family learned about Zhongshan's 5,000-year development, as well as the stories of struggle of overseas Chinese and their contributions to their hometown guided by the museum staff.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Zhongshan Museum received over 20,000 visitors per day.
