??5 individuals and a local agricultural investment company, who had been reported and caught transporting waste and residue from Dongguan to Zhongshan for dumping twice, were prosecuted by Zhongshan Environmental Sciences Society for illegal transfer and dumping of salvaged materials and severe contamination of soil and surrounding water.
??It was Zhongshan’s first environmental public interest civil suit initiated by environmental social organization.
??The case has been sentenced recently by Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court. The six defendants are fined over 2 million yuan in total.
