Taking effect on April 1, residents in the Chinese mainland can apply for passports and travel permits to and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan at every exit and entry management department across the country.
On that day, 17 residents experienced the “instant handling” of passports and travel permits at the Zhongshan Exit and Entry Management Hall. Wang Shu, a girl from Shandong Province, became the first in Zhongshan to complete the procedures and get her Hong Kong and Macao Travel Permit replaced, in just 1 minutes 50 seconds.
As of 17:30 on the day, Zhongshan Exit and Entry Management Hall accepted a total of 79 applications of this kind of “across the country” service.
