The Legal Aid Office of Zhongshan (LAO) adjusted the legal aid baseline on May 13. According to the new standard, the threshold of the per capita household income of the intended target was raised from 1805.6 yuan to 1942.5 yuan per month. This is an attempt to enlarge the scope of the legal aid system.
The head of LAO said Zhongshan's minimum living level of urban and rural residents has been raised from 976 yuan to 1,050 yuan as of January 1, 2019.
In this case, LAO decided to adjust the legal aid baseline (the threshold of the per capita household income) from 1805.6 yuan to 1942.5 yuan per month from May 13. This move not only suit the need of economic and social development, but also guarantee the basic rights and interests of people in underprivileged circumstances and other people who meet competent legal conditions.
