The Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court (GIPC) Zhongshan Circuit Court was inaugurated in Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City on April 26.
On the same day, the Second Court of the Circuit Court held a trial on a patent dispute. The judge organized mediation twice, and the two sides finally reached a settlement.
The staff of the plaintiff enterprise said that, in the past, patent owners had to entrust a lawyer to go to Guangzhou to hold a court session to safeguard their rights, resulting in relatively high cost. But now, it is much more convenient because of the establishment of the Circuit Court in Guzhen Town.
Wei Xiaoyun, a judge of the GIPC who presided over the trial, said that about 20% to 30% of the cases heard by the Court every year involve the design appearance of Zhongshan lighting appliances.
In recent years, Zhongshan lighting enterprises have greatly improved their awareness of safeguarding their intellectual property rights. The GIPC Zhongshan Circuit Court will focus on examining intellectual property cases involving Zhongshan enterprises through online filing, rapid review, remote trials and circuit trials.
