The 14th Five-Year Plan for Transportation in Zhongshan was recently released.
According to the Plan, by 2025, Zhongshan will be built into a comprehensive transportation hub on the west bank of the Pearl River. It will connect destinations in all directions and feature external and internal communications, thus forming a four vertical and five horizontal expressway network, three ring roads and a twelve high-speed traffic lane freeway and expressway network, a two vertical and three horizontal rail transit network, and the 60-30-15 space-time circle.
The 60-30-15 space-time circle refers to: less than 60-munite drive from Zhongshan to neighboring cities in the Greater Bay Area, 30-minute drive from downtown areas to towns (districts) and from towns (districts) to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, and 15-minute drive from the central parts of towns (districts) to the nearest expressway entrances and exits.
In terms of road length, the total length of highway opened to traffic will be increased from 184 kilometers to more than 390 kilometers, the total length of trunk highway from 443 kilometers to more than 600 kilometers, and the total length of rail traffic from 69 kilometers to more than 100 kilometers.
