After 2 years and 8 months of construction, the Xijiang Grand Bridge, part of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway reconstruction and expansion, was linked up on December 12.
The Xijiang Grand Bridge is a key control project of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway reconstruction and expansion. It adopts single-side separated expansion, and the newly-built Xijiang Grand Bridge has a total length of 2,740 meters. The main bridge is a three-tower cable-stayed bridge with double cable planes and prestressed concrete beams.
The Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway has a total length of 40.05 km after reconstruction and expansion. It will be expanded to a two-way eight-lane expressway, with a design speed of 120 km/h. According to the plan, the expressway will be completed and open to traffic in 2024.
