After reconstruction and expansion, the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway opened two-way eight-lane traffic on January 25, significantly alleviating the traffic pressure during the Spring Festival travel rush.

The expansion of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway from four lanes to eight lanes commenced at the end of 2020. The project will be fully completed within this year.

It is predicted that the traffic volume of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen section of the Expressway during this year's Spring Festival travel rush will increase about 9.7% compared to last year, while the Jiangmen-Heshan section will be 6.1%. The traffic peak is predicted to occur on February 8 before the Spring Festival and on February 15 after the Spring Festival.
