The Guangdong Banfu Economic Development Zone and Guangdong Zhongshan Qijiang New Town Economic Development Zone have been approved by the Guangdong provincial government to become the 56th and 57th provincial-level economic development zones.
The Guangdong Banfu Economic Development Zone covers an area of 243.68 hectares, bounded by Liujiawei (Qijiang River) to the east, Gushen Highway (Beiwei) to the west, Shiqihe Bridge (Qijiang River) to the south, and South Hewei Lane (Hewei River) to the north.
The Guangdong Zhongshan Qijiang New Town Economic Development Zone covers an area of 501.6 hectares and is divided into three areas. Area One covers an area of 182.45 hectares, bounded by Guangzhou-Macao Expressway to the east, Qijiang River to the south, Sanjiao Expressway to the west, and Hanzhujiao River to the north. Area Two covers an area of 96.84 hectares, bounded by Haojiang Road to the east, Huoju Road to the south, Haosi Road to the west, and Qijiang River to the north. Area Three covers an area of 222.31 hectares, bounded by Liujie River to the east, Shiji Avenue to the south, North Fukang Road to the west, and West Haojiang Road to the north.
According to the official reply, the two economic development zones are required to complete the management systems and operating mechanisms, enhance the development quality and efficiency, and strive to become significant driving forces for regional economic restructuring and transformation of economic development mode.
Up to now, Guangdong has a total of 64 economic development zones at or above the provincial level, including seven national-level economic development zone and 57 provincial-level ones.
