The Shenzhen-Zhongshan intercity bus terminal at the Zhongshan Expo Center was completed on March 31 and made its debut to the public on April 1. With a drifting cloud-like appearance, it captures the attention of the residents.
At the construction site of the terminal, five tall camphor trees come into view first. The dense branches and leaves extend above the canopy, allowing the entire structure to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Underneath the canopy, there is a spacious open space for passengers to seek shelter from the sun and rain while doing transfers.
According to the plan, the bus terminal will link 16 local bus routes across the city. Nine towns and sub-districts, including Shiqi and East District, have direct access to the expo center. Residents from other towns and sub-districts can reach the expo center with only one transfer.
Zhongshan is planing two inter-city bus routes to Shenzhen, from the Zhongshan Expo Center to Qianhaiwan Metro Station and to Bao'an Airport East Metro-Bus Interchange respectively. The route to Qianhaiwan Metro Station is scheduled to start operating on the opening day of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
