According to the 7-day monitoring data from the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link Management Center, during the first week since the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link (from June 30, 3:00 pm to July 7, 3:00 pm), the total traffic volume exceeded 720,000 vehicles with the average daily traffic volume of over 100,000 vehicles.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, or ShenZhong Link, opened to traffic at 3:00 pm on June 30, reducing the travel time between Shenzhen and Zhongshan from about 2 hours to within 30 minutes. 

After the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, mainland social media platforms have seen numerous "guides" for traveling to Zhongshan. 

The past weekend, many popular restaurants and tourist attractions in Zhongshan were bustling with a continuous stream of visitors. Some netizens mentioned that dining places and tourist spots in Zhongshan are flourishing; for instance, on July 6, they waited for an hour and a half just to have lunch at a restaurant.

In the first week following the opening of the Link, large numbers of residents from cities like Shenzhen and Hong Kong on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta have been taking the Shenzhen-Zhongshan cross-city buses to travel to Zhongshan for tourism. According to the applet of "Shenzhen-Zhongshan Cross-City Bus Special Line", all bus tickets from Shenzhen to Zhongshan on July 6 and July 7 were sold out.

The Zhanyuan and Dajian Mountain Camping Park in Zhongshan are experiencing large crowds. Specifically, visitors at Dajian Mountain Camping Park doubled compared to usual, with 15% of visitors coming from Shenzhen and 10% from Macao. To better receive this influx, local authorities have organized various cultural and tourism activities to boost consumption, such as hosting a pop music week and a cultural and tourism food carnival.

"At present, the main reasons for the heavy traffic are attributed to summer vacations, homecoming trips, and the initial popularity of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link itself during the first weekend of operation. As people become more familiar with and accustomed to the route of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, it is expected that traffic flow will gradually return to normal levels," stated a person in charge from the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link Management Center.

The person in charge explained that according to the statistics from the first week, during weekdays, the peak hours for traffic on the Link are from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. During these peak hours, there are approximately 7,000 vehicle trips per hour. They advised the public to consider traveling during off-peak times.
