Ou Zhuopeng, founder and creative director of Centre Design, recently won Red Dot Design Awards with two of his works, Zhongshan Qiwan Golden Dragon and Mother Rivers of China.
Born in Zhongshan's Guzhen Town, Ou graduated from Singapore's Lasalle College of the Arts with a major in communication design. He once worked in Singapore for ten years and founded his own communication design consultancy company. In 2015, he returned to his home country and took root in Zhongshan.
The two award-winning works fully showcase the beauty of traditional culture in the conceptual design. Zhongshan Qiwan Golden Dragon is based on the Festooning Skills of Qiwan Golden Dragon, a provincial intangible cultural heritage item in Zhongshan, and re-portrays the Qiwan Golden Dragon with contemporary art techniques to presents cultural connotation.
Previously, Ou Zhuopeng has won many international awards, such as the One Show Silver Pencil Award, the IF Design Award and the German Design Award (GDA).
