The main line of the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway (NanZhong Expressway) Zhongshan section has been connected, with the remaining ancillary works currently under construction. It is nearing completion and will soon be open to traffic.
With an investment of over 20 billion yuan, the 32.41-kilometer NanZhong Expressway consists of the main line and the Wanqingsha branch line. The main line starts from the Xinken interchange with Nansha Port Expressway and ends at the Xinlong interchange. The Wanqingsha branch line starts from the Xinken interchange, and connects to the ShenZhong Link through the Wanqingsha interchange.
The main line and the Wanqingsha branch line will open to traffic simultaneously. By then, the driving time between downtown Zhongshan and the Nansha Port will be only 25 minutes.
NanZhong Expressway has six toll stations in total, three of which are in Zhongshan, namely Shenzhen-Zhongshan Cooperation Zone, Minzhong South and Qijiang New Town North.
On October 22, the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province announced the toll standard for NanZhong Expressway. For example, the toll will be 24 yuan from Minzhong South to Nansha South (37 kilometers), and 73 yuan from Minzhong South to Xixiang North in Shenzhen's Qianhai (47 kilometers).
