With the assistance of Zhongshan Customs, Mayile ice cream returned to the Macao market in April this year after a nearly 20-year absence. To date, the company has exported 3 shipments totaling 8 tons of ice cream and ice lollies to Macao.

Mayile was originally established in 1956 in Zhongshan as a state-owned enterprise producing tapioca starch and peanut oil.

In the 1980s, the company started to make ice cream. It was the first nationwide to introduce advanced ice cream production equipment from Italy, Denmark, the US, Germany and other countries. By the 1990s, Mayile had opened branch factories in Wuhan, Chengdu and Changsha.

In 2001, Mayile entered the Macao market with outstanding quality. However, due to the changing export policies and the company's adjustments in development strategies, Mayile gradually withdrew from the Macao market in 2005.

In July 2023, Mayile took part in the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair, finding an opportunity to return to the Macao market.

"Soon after the fair, a well-known domestic export merchant contacted us, hoping to become our exclusive agency for the export to Macao," said Cheng Junming, chairman and general manager of Mayile.

Taking advantages of the opening of the ShenZhong Link, Cheng plans to seize the Greater Bay Area market and tap into the Hong Kong market to continuously increase market share and expand Mayile's brand influence.
