E-commerce giants Alibaba, PDD and JD all launched their promotion activities for the "Double 11" shopping festival the same day on October 14, about 10 days earlier than previous years.
During this year's "Double 11" period, Zhongshan's online retail sales increased 16.11% year on year to 15.04 billion yuan, ranking 5th in Guangdong province.
Xiaolan, Guzhen and Dongfeng towns were the top three contributors, with online retail sales of 2.34 billion yuan, 2.14 billion yuan and 1.94 billion yuan, respectively, accounting for 15.56%, 14.22% and 12.91% of the city's total.
Driven by the trade-in policy of household appliances, online retail sales of "daily necessities", "household appliances and audio-visual equipment" and "furniture" took the top three places in the online retail sales ranking, with the sales hitting 5.53 billion yuan, 3.77 billion yuan and 1.91 billion yuan respectively, accounting for 37.58%, 25.63% and 12.98%.
During the same period, Zhongshan's live-streaming retail sales stood at 3.12 billion yuan, with some 36.916 million units of products sold.
The top three in terms of live-streaming retail sales were Shaxi, Xiaolan and Guzhen towns, with values at 540 million yuan, 470 million yuan and 320 million yuan respectively, accounting for 17.45%, 15.22% and 10.19% of the total.
Live-streaming platforms Douyin, Diantao and Kuaishou contributed 68.52%, 18.78% and 12.70% of the total sales, respectively.
