"South District of Zhongshan boasts rich culture, beautiful scenery and special overseas Chinese buildings. In particular the intangible cultural heritage food Liangdu Braised Pork impresses me very much."

On January 13, Adeline Nip, the great-granddaughter of Zeng Guofan's daughter Zeng Jifen, visited South District in Zhongshan with her friends.

Born in Shanghai, Adeline Nip was graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and later immigrated to the United States. She works as a reporter and editor of Sing Tao DailySan Francisco, editor-in-chief of magazine Distinctive Taste, and a columnist for many newspapers and journals.

Adeline Nip formed a bond with South District due to Liangdu Braised Pork. She often traveled around to explore delicacies, and a few years ago, she was full of praise for the first time she tasted Liangdu Braised Pork.

In 2022, she once again came to South District to explore the cultural origin, inheritance and the making techniques of Liangdu Braised Pork. Her articles about the delicacy have been published in overseas food journals and magazines and received favorable feedback. Thanks to efforts, Liangdu Braised Pork has become known at home and abroad.

The overseas Chinese buildings of different styles also impress Adeline Nip, attracting her to visit South District again.

On the day, she and her friends visited Zhuxiuyua, Shachong and Shangtang villages, where they were told the stories of Ma Ying-piu and the Kwok brothers, as well as the status of the revitalization and conservation of overseas Chinese houses.

"I will bring more fellow architects and designers to Zhongshan in the future. And I hope to have the opportunity to be a part of the overseas Chinese houses conservation and revitalization," Nip said.
