Since its opening, the ShenZhong Link has significantly enhanced connectivity among cities in the Pearl River Delta. This year, it will experience its first Spring Festival (aka Chinese New Year) travel rush, and motorists using the route before and after the Chinese New Year are likely to encounter heavy traffic. Recently, the Zhongshan Traffic Police issued travel advisories for the Link during this peak period.

Predicted traffic peaks

According to the Zhongshan Traffic Police, the first major return trip peak is expected from February 3 to February 6, with east-to-west traffic potentially experiencing prolonged congestion over extended distances. A second peak is anticipated from February 12 to February 16, during which travelers heading to areas like Dongguan and Huizhou are advised to plan their routes carefully. If necessary, consider alternative routes such as the Humen Bridge.

Travel tips

· The entire ShenZhong Link is classified as an expressway.

· Small passenger vehicles with seven seats or fewer can travel toll-free during the Spring Festival holiday from 12:00 am on January 28 to 11:59 pm on February 4.

· Traffic police will strictly enforce rules during this period, with a focus on violations such as illegal parking, distracted driving, and excessively slow driving.

Drivers are urged to follow traffic laws, drive safely, and cooperate with enforcement measures to ensure a smooth and safe journey for all.
