According to Gongbei Customs' recent statistics, Zhongshan's total import and export volume in 2024 rose 10.3% from a year earlier to a record high of 284.06 billion yuan.

The export of mechanical and electrical products grew by 14.9%, accounting for 79% of the total. The export of high-tech products increased by 10.7%, making up 19% of the total. General trade exports saw an 18.8% rise.

Out of Zhongshan's 18 major categories of goods for export, 15 experienced positive growth. The exports of home appliances and lighting fixtures increased by 20.6% and 9.1% respectively, accounting for 26.2% and 7% of the total.

In 2024, a total of 2,844 enterprises in the city went overseas for exhibitions. Zhongshan developed trading connection with two more countries and saw trade growth with more than 160 trade partners. Exports to emerging markets showed significant increase, with a 15.6% growth to the Middle East, a 17.7% growth to Russia, and double-digit growth to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, ASEAN countries and BRICS nations. Exports to Latin American countries surged by 32.4%.

A new high of 6,855 business entities in Zhongshan had import and export records in 2024, up 23.9% year-on-year.
