Sweet Shenwan pineapples come to market
2025-04-08

In recent years, Zhongshan's Shenwan Town has focused on developing the "pineapple IP" and creating a full industry chain ecosystem integrating agriculture, culture and tourism.

At the Yaji Mountain Forest Park in Shenwan, the mountain is covered with pineapple plants bearing abundant fruits. Visitors are either experiencing the joy of fruit-picking in the woods or relaxing in the book cafe at the foot of the mountain.

The sweetest ripening period of Shenwan pineapples will come in late April, and the harvest season will arrive by the May Day. It is expected that the price will be as low as 22 yuan per kilogram.

"It takes a Shenwan pineapple one and a half years to mature under organic farming," said a local fruit grower.

During the just ended Qingming Festival holiday, Shenwan Town attracted crowds of visitors with special activities, such as mountain hiking and fruit-picking, study tours, intangible cultural heritage-themed night markets, and etc.

"My foreign friends are full of praise for the fresh air and the sweet, crisp and tasty Shenwan pineapples here." Said a visitor from downtown, who came to the Yaji Mountain for the joy of picking pineapples with his French friends.

Currently, Shenwan has a total pineapple cultivation area of 3,800 mu (about 253 hectares), with an annual output of 5,500 tons and a value of 100 million yuan. More and more tourists flock to the town due to the increasing popularity of Shenwan pineapples.

Later this month, the 5th Shenwan Pineapple Cultural Tourism Month will kick off, featuring splendid activities such as variety shows, ICH-themed markets, and farm product exhibitions.
