The catways of Lingdingyang Bridge, part of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, were fully completed on April 22, marking the completion of the aerial construction passages and laying a solid foundation for the erection of the main cable.
Catways are temporary construction foundations erected under the main cable and parallel to the alignment of the main cable during the construction of the suspension bridge. They are high-altitude platforms for the superstructure construction of the suspension bridge, with the bottom of the scaffolding of about 105 meters above the sea level. Two catways are separately set up under the left and right main cables of Lingdingyang Bridge to connect the east and west main towers. Each catway is 4 meters wide, with a total length of about 3,000 meters and several passages set crosswise.
The catways will be demolished after the completion of the Lingdingyang Bridge.
