Why given yellow code?

Giving yellow code is a health management measure mainly for people who have visited epidemic-related venues and may be exposed to potential cases. It aims to urge such people to take PCR tests as soon as possible to eliminate infection risk. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation for COVID-19 prevention and control.

What to do?

Please act as follows after you find that your health code has turned yellow:

(1) Immediately report to your community or the hotel you stay in.

(2) Immediately take a PCR test at sampling sites specially for Yellow Code personnel. This is the fastest way to turn your health codes back to green. Please note that the health code may turn yellow more than once according to the epidemic risk level. It is possible that you may be given a yellow code again and again for three or five consecutive days. In that case, please do a PCR test everyday during the period, so that you can regain your regular green code.

(3) People with yellow codes should avoid gatherings before all PCR tests come out negative, and should commute between their home and workplace only.

How long will it take to turn back to green code after PCR tests?

It usually takes about 6 hours for people finishing PCR tests in Guangdong Province. Because, firstly, it takes about 4 hours for the data to be uploaded to the GHC (粤康码) platform after sampling. Secondly, it takes about 2 hours for the system to process information. In case of large-scale PCR testing, the time may be further prolonged.

How do Yellow Code personnel seek medical treatment?

For Yellow Code personnel who need medical treatment, medical institutions will assign special personnel to follow up and transfer them to fever clinics for investigation and treatment. For critically ill patients, hospitals will offer green channels.
