Zhongshan citizens read 20.4 books per capita in 2022

The 21st Zhongshan Reading Month was launched on April 22. At the launch ceremony, The 2022 Zhongshan Citywide Reading Development Report was released.


According to the report, 78.3% of the respondents participated in reading activities organized in surrounding communities, libraries, bookstores or other reading organizations, and the high coverage of reading facilities boosted reading engagement.


About 20.7% of the respondents spent more time on paper reading, and nearly half (48.9%) of them spent more money on paper reading in 2022. The respondents read 20.4 books per capita in 2022, including 11.1 paper books and 9.3 e-books.


The group aged 18 and below read most books (43.4 per capita), followed by the group aged 60 and above (26.2) and the group aged 19-25 (23.2).


The group with postgraduate degrees read most books (33.8 per capita), followed by senior high school students (25.6).


In 2022, Zhongshan further launched the "Xiangshan Study" construction project. So far, 103 Xiangshan Studies have been built up and put into use across Zhongshan.
