"In August 2023, Mingyang Smart Energy (MSE), developed the 'Mingyu No.1', which is the world's first intelligent equipment that combines a wind turbine, a jacket foundation, and an aquaculture cage. It marks a significant step in unmanned offshore wind power management and deep-sea fishery operations," explained Yi Lingna, Vice President of MSE, sharing this milestone achievement with GDToday.
Established in 1993, MSE is a leading new energy enterprise based in Zhongshan City, Guangdong. The company operates across various fields including wind, solar, marine, hydrogen, storage, and space energy. It is one of the companies that showcases the development of the clean energy industry in Zhongshan. Torch Development Zone, home to MSE's research lab, is a key area for development and has attracted over 300 renowned enterprises, including more than 20 Fortune Global 500 companies.
"MSE has witnessed the transformation of Chinese enterprises to become advanced in productivity under the reform and opening up. MSE's achievement has benefited from TDZ and Zhongshan, especially its support for independent innovation, industrial cluster construction, and new energy demonstration projects," the vice president of MSE said.
"With the city's support, MSE has led innovation like the MySE7.25-158 floating wind turbine, capable of operating in deep waters and at great distances from the shore - a first for China," Yi said.
She emphasized MSE's ambition, noting that "on June 1, 2023, MSE unveiled its strategic plan to join the Fortune Global 500 within the next five years, developing seven business clusters encompassing a comprehensive marine economy, photovoltaic hydrogen, international operations, and high-end equipment."
Guangdong has set a goal for 2027 to cultivate over ten industrial clusters, each with a value exceeding one trillion yuan, with more than ten manufacturing companies on the Fortune Global 500 list, according to an earlier report from Nanfang Daily.
Zhongshan published a plan to promote the development of new energy storage industry in September 2023. By 2025, Zhongshan will become a cluster for energy storage batteries and hydrogen storage industries, with 20 billion yuan new energy storage industry revenue and 150,000 kilowatts installed capacity. Policies will promote industry-leading enterprises like MSE to foster large-scale and positively developing industrial clusters.
In addition, TDZ in Zhongshan has been a catalyst for nearly 40 companies to expand production with an investment of nearly 20 billion yuan, demonstrating the province's commitment to nurturing new industries through innovative policies and financial incentives according to the report from Nanfang Daily.
